Kadyrov rejoices at Gardaloev's appointment as head of Chechen SC

Alavdin Gardaloev, the new chairman of the Supreme Court (SC) of the Chechen Republic, was presented in Grozny. The head of Chechnya commented it by saying that "justice has triumphed."

In June, the 53-year-old Alavdin Gardaloev, a former head of the Gudermes City Court, was appointed the new SC chairman.

In May 2016, on Ramzan Kadyrov's order, Magomed Karataev, the then SC chairman, and three other judges "voluntarily" resigned. This happened after Kadyrov was reported about numerous violations in considering criminal and civil cases.

While introducing Gardaloev, Ramzan Kadyrov thanked the Russian President "for appointing such a worthy person." He recalled that for a long time "there was discontent with the work of the republic's SC," the "Chechnya Today" reports.

According to the edition, Gardaloev himself has stated that "the Chechen judicial corps is aimed at improving the quality of justice and strengthening the people's trust in the court."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after the scandal with Karataev's dismissal and his departure, Takhir Murdalov became the acting chairman of the SC. In October 2016, it was reported that Murdalov was beaten up in the courthouse by bodyguards of Magomed Daudov, the Speaker of the Chechen Parliament: allegedly, Daudov demanded from Murdalov to resign, but the latter had refused.
