Out-of-contest programmes of "Golden Apricot" include more than 70 films

In the period from July 9 to 16, more than 70 films directed by Armenian and foreign filmmakers will be shown within four out-of-contest programmes of the 14th Yerevan International "Golden Apricot" Film Festival. Their number includes film which won the Cannes, Berlin and Venice Film Festivals.

The contest and out-of-contest programmes of the "Golden Apricot" film festival will present more than 100 films, many of which are recognized as the best world premieres of 2017.

In particular, the out-of-contest programme "Yerevan Premieres" includes the Filipino director Lav Diaz's film "The Woman Who Left", which won the Golden Lion of the Venice Film Festival, and the films "On Body and Soul" of Hungarian film director Ildiko Enyedi and "Beyond Hope" by Finnish film director Aki Kaurismäki, winners of the "Golden Bear" and "Silver Bear" at the Berlin Film Festival.

The "Golden Apricot" film festival will also present the Swedish director Ruben Östlund's film "The Square", the winner of the "Golden Palm Branch" of the Cannes Film Festival, and the Fatih Akin's film "At the Limit", in which actress Diane Kruger won the prestigious best actress award at the Cannes Film Festival.

Other 36 films of nine countries were included in the out-of-contest programmes "Armenians: a view from the outside and from within".

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow

    A shootout took place near an office of the “Wildberries” Company in the centre of Moscow. As a result, at least one person has been killed and several others have been wounded, sources report. Among the victims have been Abubakar Mestoev and Umar Chichaev, mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters from Northern Caucasus, reports Shamil Khadulaev, the chair of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) of Dagestan.

  • In Volgograd, court recognizes absence of HIV therapy in prison hospital

    The Central District Court of Volgograd awarded prisoner Ruslan Mitrofan compensation in the amount of 1000 roubles, recognizing that the administration of a prison hospital in Volgograd violated the prisoner’s right to receive medical care by not providing him with an HIV medicine. Meanwhile, Ruslan Mitrofan requested the compensation in the amount of 100,000 roubles.
