Kanal-13 office and Aziz Orujov's flat searched

In Baku, searches have been conducted in the office of the Internet TV Kanal-13 (Kanal13.tv) and the apartment of its executive director Aziz Orujov, who was earlier arrested. Computers, electronic carriers and documents were confiscated, said employees of the TV channel. Orujov's wife is concerned about his health because he suffers from chronic diseases.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Orujov was accused of illegal entrepreneurship with extraction of huge profits, and of abuse of his official powers, which entailed grave consequences.

The Internet TV Kanal-13 is operating since October 10, 2008, and broadcasts on the website www.kanal13.tv. It produces programmes on social and economic topics, presenting, among other things, positions of independent experts and oppositional politicians.

From the office, law enforcers moved to Orujov's apartment. His wife Lamiya, who works as an editor of the channel, said they took nothing from the apartment.

According to her story, in 2014, within a criminal case against local and foreign NGOs, an inquiry against the Orujovs was conducted; however, then the case was closed.

Ms Orujova said that after the confiscation of office equipment, the work of the channel is impossible.

Let us remind you that Aziz Orujov is the fourth journalist in Azerbaijan prosecuted over the past four months.
