Three persons detained in connection with gas explosion in Volgograd

Law enforcers have detained an entrepreneur and two other persons, suspected of involvement in the collapse of the apartment house in Volgograd.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the collapse of a section of a four-storey house has occurred today in the Sovietsky District of Volgograd. An explosion of domestic gas was announced as a provisional reason. According to preliminary data, the collapse killed three persons and injured 11, nine of whom were hospitalized.

According to Andrei Bocharov, Governor of Volgograd Region, it is assumed that the explosion of domestic gas occurred as a result of an unsanctioned cut-in into a water pipe – in the course of the work carried out for the entrepreneur, a gas pipe was damaged.

As reported by Mikhail Muzraev, the head of the Investigating Department for the Volgograd Region of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), in connection with the explosion, they detained the entrepreneur – the owner of the trade pavilion, his father and the worker, who made the cut-in into the water pipe.

The four-storey house, where the collapse occurred, was built in 1958; it has 45 apartments, in which 97 people are registered, including six children. The regional authorities have promised to help the victims.
