Warders of Belorechenskaya penal colony sentenced to imprisonment terms

The court has found ten warders of a correctional colony in the Krasnodar Territory guilty of the prisoner's death and sentenced them to 3-11 years of imprisonment.

According to investigators, on November 25, 2015, warders of the Belorechenskaya penal colony beat newly arrived prisoners. As a result of the beating, six persons were injured and one died. The investigators filed charges against 10 former warders of the correctional institution, including Vladislav Ivanov, the acting chief of the penal colony, and his assistant Sergey Andriyaschenko.

Today, the Belorechensky District Court has sentenced Vladislav Ivanov to five years of imprisonment. Shamkhalov and Krivolapov, warders of the penal colony, were sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment. The other defendants were sentenced to three and more years of imprisonment.

Public prosecutor has announced the intention to appeal against the sentences, since, according to him, the verdict was too soft. All the convicted warders do not agree with the verdict, and they intend to appeal against it, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
