Parades in NCFD notable for "Grad" in Grozny and "Zaporozhets" in Makhachkala (+video)

On May 9, all the regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) held festivities in honour of the Victory Day.

In Magas, the mechanized part of the parade included the all-terrain vehicles "Tiger", the Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) BTR-80, and the 152-mm howitzer MSTA-B, says the release of the press service of the head of Ingushetia, received by the "Caucasian Knot". The central square of Magas was also crossed by a column of rare cars GAZ M-20 'Pobeda' (Victory); one of them was driven by Yunus-Bek Evkurov, the head of Ingushetia.

In Grozny, the military parade comprised a column of 130 special and armoured vehicles, including the "Grad" (Hail) volley missile systems and the "Osa" (Wasp) anti-aircraft cannon, says the website of Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya. The culmination of the parade was the flight over Grozny of Su-25 fighters and a mixed helicopter unit of Mi-24, Mi-8 and Mi-28 models."

In Vladikavkaz, within the parade, Freedom Square was crossed by APCs BTR-82A and BTR-82AM, multi-purpose armoured vehicles "Tiger", MSTA-B howitzers and other equipment, the newspaper "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" reported in its article.

"The parade ended in an unusual action: a tram stylized to the railway transport of the war years crossed Freedom   Square," the article notes.

In Stavropol, for the first time, the Victory Parade included heavy armoured vehicles – four T-72B3 tanks and four self-propelled artillery systems model 2S19 "Dilemma", the edition named "Stavgorod" reports.

On May 9, Makhachkala held a rally and a march, dated to the Victory Day; a military parade was not included into the festivities; however, a column of retro cars drove along the central street of the city, namely, models "ZiS", "Pobeda", "Moskvich" and "Zaporozhets", the edition named "Kavkaz. Realii" reports.

In Cherkessk, during the parade in honour of the Victory Day, the square was crossed by military equipment, including special vehicles "Tiger" and "Vystrel" (Shot), the RIA "Karachay-Cherkessia" reports.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow
