In Vladikavkaz, more than 40,000 people take part in action "Immortal Regiment"

This year, in the capital of North Ossetia, according to law enforcers, the number of participants of the action "Immortal Regiment" more than 2.6 times exceeded the number of the last year's action.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 9, 2016, in Vladikavkaz, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for North Ossetia, the number of participants of the action "Immortal Regiment" was more than 15,000 people, and it exceeded the expectations of the organizers, who expected 10,000-12,000 participants. On the same day, the action "Immortal Regiment" was also held in the mountains of North Ossetia and was included in the Russian Guinness Book of Records as the action held at the highest altitude.

Today, at 10.00 a.m. Moscow time, a military parade has begun at Freedom Square in Vladikavkaz, honoured with the title of the "City of Military Glory". The parade was opened with a solemn march of war veterans and participants of World War II, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

At about 11:00 a.m. Moscow time, participants of the action "Immortal Regiment" started to march from Shtyba Square to Kirov Street. In their hands, they were carrying portraits of their relatives who fought in World War II. According to law enforcers, providing security of citizens in the city, the action involved about 40,000 people.
