In Manas, about 1000 truck drivers continue their protest action

The reports about the termination of the protest of drivers of heavy trucks in Dagestan are not true. This was reported by participants in the truck drivers' strike. According to the protestors, new drivers are constantly arriving to the camp of truck drivers near the village of Manas.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 27, Russian truck drivers resumed mass protests. They demand to abolish the transport tax, reduce fuel excises and cancel the "Platon" system introduced to collect tolls from drivers of heavy trucks on federal roads.

On April 10, the media reported that a number of Dagestani transport companies had agreed with the authorities of the republic to stop protests against the "Platon" system and resumed cargo transportation.

"They are spreading rumours that we stopped our protest action, but it is not true. As we indicated at the beginning of our protest, we announce our action indefinite. And every day, more and more people join us. On April 10, even more people attended our meeting-rally than on other days," the" Caucasian Knot "correspondent was told by Vagid Gadjiev, a truck driver with a 34-year work experience.

According to participants of the protest action, as at the evening of April 10, more than 600 heavy vehicles stayed in Manas. "During days, at least 1000 people came here, and about 100 people stay here at night," said one of the truck drivers on protest.
