KChR’s truckers declare endless protest action

Today, about 70 heavy truck drivers held a protest in Cherkessk, the capital of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) and demanded to reduce fuel excise taxes, cancel the "Platon" system and the transport tax.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 27 Russian truckers resumed their mass protests against the "Platon" system, launched to collect payment from heavy truck drivers for using federal highways. Protest actions took place, in particular, in Volgograd, Astrakhan, Baksan, truckers are also on strike in Dagestan and North Ossetia.

"We demand to establish the proper order with the transport tax and weight control, and to reduce fuel excises. We demand to abolish ‘Platon’ system," Vladimir Kaminsky, a participant of the action, told the" Caucasian Knot "correspondent.

The truckers’ protest will continue until the demands are met, said Boris Ortabaev, another protester.
