Court fines majority of Alexei Navalny's supporters detained in Volgograd

In Volgograd, 31 people were detained during street riots. Court sessions in cases against several people have been postponed, while the rest detainees have been fined. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Anastasia Andreeva, the deputy coordinator of the Volgograd headquarters of Alexei Navalny.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 26, many cities of Russia hosted actions held by supporters of oppositionist Alexei Navalny. Preparations for the rallies were launched after the Alexei Navalny's Foundation to Combat Corruption had released the film "He is not Dimon for you", dedicated to the "secret empire of Premier Dmitry Medvedev." Participants of the actions demanded to investigate the information announced in the film.

According to Anastasia Andreeva, the number of detainees in Volgograd included three minors.

"All of the detainees were immediately brought to courts from the police station. The court refused to review the cases opened against the last party of the detainees, 6-7 persons in total. They were brought back to the police station, allegedly for signing papers obliging them to appear in court. The police promised to release them after that. However, in fact, we do not know how it will be. Today, trials in cases against several people have been postponed, and the rest have been sentenced to a fine of 10,000 roubles. We will definitely appeal against the verdicts of fines," Anastasia Andreeva told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In Volgograd, the action of the Alexei Navalny's supporters took place in Lenin Square. According to organizer Alexei Volkov, 800-1000 people took part in the action.
