Relatives of militants killed in Naurskaya detained in Chechnya

On March 24, the father of Muridov brothers, killed by law enforcers during the attack on the checkpoint of the “Rosgvardia” (National Guard of Russia), was detained, along with other relatives of the militants, said a resident of the village of Naurskaya. Mass detentions of young people with beards were also held in Grozny, local residents have reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 24, an attack was committed on the checkpoint of the military camp of the “Rosgvardia” (National Guard of Russia), the responsibility for which was claimed by the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia. Six servicemen were killed, and three others wounded. Six attackers were also killed, and two managed to escape.

"Three sons of my distant relative Ramzan Muridov – Khabil, Ramzan and Shamil Muridov – took part in the attack on the military base; the oldest of them was 26, the youngest – about 22 years old," said a resident of the village, adding: "What persuaded the guys to do it is not clear. We are all shocked.”

Another attacker, Khizir Zakaraev, is a native of the village of Elistanzhi, Vedeno District of Chechnya, said another resident of the district centre named Movsar.

According to a student, Mairbek by name, the mass detentions in the capital of the republic are "an indicator of weakness and fear of the authorities and power structures."

The attack has triggered another round of "witch-hunting", said the head of one of the local NGOs.
