Residents of Dagomys oppose construction of high-rise buildings in water protection zones

About 20 activists have gathered for a meeting to inform local residents about the danger of flooding of residential houses in case if high-rise buildings are constructed in riverbeds.

On March 18, the activists decided to start collecting signatures under an appeal to the environmental prosecutor's office of the Krasnodar Territory to take emergency measures against illegal, according to the activists, construction in the area of the Dagomys water protection zones, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The activists talk of the territory in the riverbed adjacent to the apartment buildings in Armavir Street, where construction of buildings is planned. Local residents complained that the passage to the river was blocked and that trees were being cut down.

Besides, the activists also paid attention to apartment buildings constructed along the Western and Eastern Dagomys Rivers. According to local residents, with each rain, those apartment buildings provoke flooding of territories in residential districts constructed with observance of environmental laws. With large rains, the rivers come out of their shores and flood houses.

Activist Elena Ivanova has noted that tenants have been unsuccessfully applying to all instances for several years.

According to local resident Valentina Ambrosimova, the state of the Dagomys infrastructure is not taken into account during construction.
