Kokoity appeals against refusal to register him at election of head of South Ossetia

Today, the initiative group of Eduard Kokoity has appealed to the Supreme Court (SC) with a complaint about the refusal to register Kokoity as a presidential candidate, a source from the Kokoity's electoral office told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"The rejection protocol of the Central Election Commission (CEC) states that one of the reasons for the refusal was the fact that Kokoity indicated his membership in the ‘Unity’ Party in the documents, but did not attach a supporting certificate, although he simply had to indicate his membership in the party, and then this fact should be checked by the CEC and law enforcement bodies," said the source, adding that the calculation of the Kokoity’s term of residency has mistakes, which should also be considered by judges."

The source has noted that the SC promised to make a decision on this matter within three days from the date of the submission of the complaint. However, according to the information posted on the website of the SC of South Ossetia, complaints are considered within 30 days from the registration date thereof by the Court.
