Authors of film about abandoned villages raise problems of mountainous Dagestan
On February 14, the conference hall of the Dagestan State Pedagogical University in Makhachkala hosted a presentation of the documentary film "Abandoned Villages of Dagestan" shot by the Dagestani Historical and Geographical Society (DagHGS).
During the presentation, the audience has listened to the report of Zurab Gadjiev, the chair of the DagHGS, in which he cited historical references for each of the villages, described in the documentary film.
According to Zurab Gadjiev, one of the priority directions of the activities of the Dagestani Historical and Geographical Society is to attract wide attention of the Dagestani and Russian public to the issues of conservation, careful handling, promotion, and protection of unique historical, cultural and geographical features, located on the territory of Dagestan.
"This short film is one of the steps in that direction. The film clearly demonstrates that every year, we lose part of our history," Zurab Gadjiev explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
