Flame of Military World Games lit on Elbrus

On February 13, on Elbrus, the flame of the 3rd Winter Military World Games was lit through parabolic mirrors by Abdul-Halim Olmezov, President of the Federation of Mountaineering, Rock-Climbing and Sport Tourism of Kabardino-Balkaria, and Aniuar Geduev, a CSKA athlete, a silver medallist in freestyle wrestling of the 2016 Olympic Games, reports the "TASS" with reference to a source from the press centre of the Winter Military World Games.

The ceremony took place on the southern slope of Mount Elbrus at an altitude of 4000 meters, the RIA "Kabardino-Balkaria" reports.

The Military World Games is an analogue of Olympic Games. They are organized by the CISM (International Military Sports Council), which brings together 134 states. For the first time, the Winter Military World Games were held in 2010 in the Italian city of Aosta, and the second Winter Military World Games were held in 2013 in the French city of Annecy. In May 2015, at a meeting in Kuwait, participants of the 70th General Assembly of the International Military Sports Council granted Sochi with the right to host the 3rd Winter Military World Games. The Games will start on February 24, 2017. Soldiers and officers will compete in seven disciplines, including biathlon, cross country skiing, downhill skiing, ski mountaineering, short track, rock climbing, and ski orienteering.
