Local residents report on detention of relatives of men killed in Shali

The Chechen police detained close family members of three suspects killed last night in Shali. This was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by local residents. The law enforcement agencies are engaged in carrying out operative and preventive actions, reports an official from the law enforcement authorities.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that last night, in Shali, policemen were attacked, and two of them were killed. During the special operation, three attackers were killed, and two civilians were wounded, reported Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.

"Law enforcers detained close relatives of the young people killed at night in the city. At night, parents of the killed men were summoned to identify the bodies. The men have not yet been released," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Ibragim, a resident of Shali, familiar with family members of one of the killed suspects.

"Law enforcers carry out arrests and inspections in the city. Family members and friends of the killed men have been detained, and their neighbours are being questioned," reports one of the local women.

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Chechnya has reported that the killed men were involved in the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia by court's decision. Family members of the killed suspects express their concerns that their families may be evicted.
