Residents of Derbent are against demolition of their houses

The yard of No. 4 in Lenin Street in Derbent hosted a rally of tenants of the houses, included into the programme of resettlement from emergency and dilapidated houses. The rally was about 100 persons strong.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Dagestani cities Dagestanskie Ogni, Derbent, Makhachkala, Yuzhno-Sukhokumsk and the Tarumov District were put on the above programme for 2017. It is planned to resettle 88 houses.

The tenants stated at the rally that they refused to move from the city centre to the houses located in the outskirt, where "there is no infrastructure, as it is the former industrial area."

The houses of the participants of the rally are in good condition, they had been built with high quality. The tenants demand not to demolish them, but make capital repairs and cancel the resettlement.

Earlier, it was reported that in 2015 the authorities of Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, began building five high-rise apartment houses within the above programme. Later, the Dagestani Ministry of Construction revealed a number of violations, and the court suspended the construction at the request of the Ministry.
