Author of books about Putin's advent to power treats absence of freedom of opinions in Chechnya as explosion-prone
The population of Chechnya has no way to express opinions; and it cannot guarantee any stability in the region, said David Satter, an American journalist.
The presentation of his book "Less You Know – Better Sleep: Russia's Way to Terror and Dictatorship under Yeltsin and Putin" was held in Paris on January 23, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The central theme of the book covers the explosions of apartment houses in Moscow and Volgodonsk in 1999, in which authorities found "the Chechen trace"; and soon the second Chechen war broke out.
David Satter, who is known for his book "How Putin Became President", released in Russia in 2012, said he would continue his studies of the above explosions, suggesting that power agents may stand behind them.
The author shared his viewpoint on the current situation in Chechnya.
"As far as I understand, so far, Russian leadership supports Kadyrov; they keep the situation under control, but only up to a certain limit; then the situation may explode. People can't express their opinions; terror reigns everywhere," he said.
