Friend of Rasul Mirzaev associates attack on athlete with fight at Moscow night club

In Moscow, Dagestani wrestler Rasul Mirzaev was attacked after a fight between natives of Dagestan and athlete Artyom Lobov, who was supported by Rasul Mirzaev. This was reported by a friend of the attacked athlete.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night of December 31, 2016, Rasul Mirzaev, World Champion in Combat Sambo, was hospitalized in Moscow after an attack of three unidentified men. The athlete was shelled from a traumatic gun, and he underwent surgery at the hospital.

According to a close friend of Rasul Mirzaev, the attack on the athlete might be provoked by an incident, which occurred earlier in a Moscow night club, when the athlete stood up for wrestler Artyom Lobov, who came to Russia from Ireland.

"When Artyom Lobov came to Moscow from Ireland, he together with Rasul and some other guys went to a night club to celebrate his arrival. At the night club, they were approached by a group of natives of Dagestan... Artyom Lobov had a dispute with them," said the source.

According to him, after that Rasul Mirzaev stood up for Artyom Lobov. "Word for word, and a fight broke out, but then security guards of the night club quickly interfered. I believe that then guys from Dagestan decided to finish the dispute and waited for Rasul near his house," said the friend of Rasul Mirzaev as quoted by the "Life" at 5:49 p.m. Moscow time of January 1.

According to a press officer of the Chief Investigating Department for Moscow of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), Rasul Mirzaev has got all necessary medical treatment, and his life is not in danger, the edition reports.
