Opposition demands Azerbaijani authorities' reaction to report on bribing PACE Deputies

The "Musavat" Party has called on to investigate the information about the bribing Azeri politicians of PACE Deputies, promulgated by the "European Stability Initiative" (ESI). The head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe) has treated the scandalous information as a provocation.

The investigation "Caviar Diplomacy-2" entitled "European Swamp (Caviar Diplomacy): Prosecutors, Corruption and Council of Europe" about the practice of bribing PACE Deputies by Azeri politicians with the aim to lobby decisions in favour of the official Baku was posted on the website of the ESI – an NGO based in Berlin – on December 17.

In the context of the ESI's report, the oppositional "Musavat" Party has demanded explanations from the authorities of Azerbaijan.

"The Azerbaijani authorities must report to people about bribing PACE Deputies," says the statement of the "Musavat" Party, released on December 19.

The Party has urged the law enforcement bodies of the country to immediately investigate the matter.
