Advocate of Boris Nemtsov's family criticizes testimony given by Shagid Gubashev

Advocate Vadim Prokhorov has expressed his doubts concerning the explanations voiced by defendant Shagid Gubashev. According to the defendant, in 2014, he repeatedly travelled to the area of the village in the Moscow Region, where the house of Boris Nemtsov was located, on business issues and not to watch the politician.

Boris Nemtsov was shot dead on February 27, 2015, in Moscow. Within his murder case five natives from Chechnya and Ingushetia were arrested, including Zaur Dadaev, brothers Anzor and Shagid Gubashev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Khamzat Bakhaev. The criminal case also involves Chechen officers Ruslan Mukhudinov, Ruslan Geremeev, and Beslan Shavanov, who was killed during his detention.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at the court hearing held on December 20, the public prosecutors compared detailed information from Boris Nemtsov's and Shagid Gubashev's mobile phone numbers. According to the information, at least on October 31, 2014, politician Boris Nemtsov and defendant Shagid Gubashev were in the same area.

On December 20, at the hearing of the Moscow District Military Court, Magomed Khadisov, an advocate of Shagid Gubashev, drew attention of the jury to the fact that according to the detailed information from Boris Nemtsov's and Shagid Gubashev's mobile phone numbers, on October 31, 2014, his client was in the village of Benelux of the Moscow Region, while on that day, Boris Nemtsov was in another village of Snegiri.

"The implication is that my client was not watching [Boris Nemtsov], but was engaged in cargo shipping," stated Magomed Khadisov.

According to Vadim Prokhorov, an advocate of the Boris Nemtsov family's, the detailed information from Boris Nemtsov's and Shagid Gubashev's mobile phone numbers may not necessarily indicate the same location, since the people who watched the politician could be unaware in advance, if Boris Nemtsov was at the place or not.

"The question is what in general Shagid Gubashev was doing in the village of Benelux. I doubt the explanation of Shagid Gubashev and his defence who stated that he allegedly transported bulk cargo there, but could not remember for whom, how and when. I have not heard any clear answer," Vadim Prokhorov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
