"Nairit" security workers demand to preserve their jobs

Activists held an action protest in front of the building of the Armenian government. The protestors demand from the top managers of the "Nairit" plant to pay off wage arrears to the workers and to abandon plans on reduction of staff.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in May, all the employees of the "Nairit" plant, including top managers, received notifications of their dismissal on July 1. On July 15, 250 of them re-signed labour contracts. The employees of the "Nairit" plant who were laid off claimed they had not received all the amounts of money due to them.

According to the participants of the protest action, the top managers of the "Nairit" plant plan to lay off security workers of the plant and delegate their functions to the police. The security department of the "Nairit" plant includes 88 people.

About 80 security workers marched along Republic Square.

According to one of the protesters, the workers of the "Nairit" plant have claimed that in case "if they are laid off, then they will take drastic steps".

Let us remind you that on October 7, investors criticized the Armenian authorities for failing to take steps for the resumption of rubber production in the country.
