Petition to investigate poisoning with water becomes most popular in Dagestan for 2016

The number of signatures under the petition, posted on October 29 on the website "Change.org", proves that the main topic voiced in it - the mass poisoning with drinking water in Makhachkala - is the most important one for residents of Dagestan. During four days, the petition raised more than 26,000 signatures, while other petitions relating to the situation in Dagestan gain much less number of signatures.

On October 27, residents of Makhachkala complained about supply of dirty water to the population after the works at the Miatli Hydro Power Plant (HPP) had been completed. In the period of October 27-31, 438 people, including 324 children, were hospitalized with signs of acute intestinal infection. As at the evening of October 31, 228 people stayed at Makhachkala hospitals because of poisoning. The "Rospotrebnadzor" (Russian Federal Service for Consumer Supervision) held the "Makhachkalavodokanal" responsible for the mass poisoning.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported about the petition, published on the website "Change.org", which authors appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to restore order in the republic and to bring to justice the persons responsible for the mass poisoning of residents of Makhachkala. The message on collection of signatures came to the SMS-service of the "Caucasian Knot".

As at 2:00 p.m. Moscow time of November 2, the petition gained 26,329 signatures. Meanwhile, the authors of the petition announced their intention to raise 35,000 signatures.

The petition has become the most popular one among the other petitions published on the website "Change.org" and related to the situation in the region.

In particular, as at November 2, the petition for the resignation of Dagestani leader Ramazan Abdulatipov, posted on March 22, gained 6497 signatures. And the petition for the cancellation of the results of the elections of September 18, posted on September 20, gained 386 signatures.
