In Gukovo, miners refute Governor's information about wage arrears pays-off

On October 5, in Gukovo, about 100 miners gathered for a rally in front of the office of the "Kingcoal" former coal company. The protestors refuted the reports that 20 million roubles of wage arrears were paid off to them.

The protestors have expressed their indignation about the officials' failure to act and the statement voiced by Vasily Golubev, Governor of the Rostov Region, who reported that 20 million roubles were paid off to the miners.

"At 12:00 a.m. of October 3, 17,604,000 roubles were paid to us," said Nikolai Nadkernichny, one of the coordinators of the protest action. He referred to the data of the territorial committee of the trade union organizations of Gukovo.

Nikolai Nadkernichny has also questioned the officials' version, according to which, 270 million roubles of wage arrears are still to be paid off. According to the coordinator of the protest action, as at January 1, 2016, the wage arrears amounted to 319 million roubles.

He has also added that 200 people still work for the "Kingcoal" and do not receive their wages, so the actual amount of wage arrears is even higher.

Besides, the protestors have expressed their indignation about the fact that Mikhail Tikhonov, Minister of Industry and Energy of the Rostov Region, ignored a meeting with them on September 30.
