In Volgograd Region, opposition associates its defeat at elections with low voter turnout

In the Volgograd Region, numerous violations were registered at the elections, and the outcome of the voting was influenced by administrative resources and the low voter turnout. This opinion was voiced by members of the opposition parties interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot". According to them, upon completion of collecting the data on violations, they will make a decision to appeal against the election results. According to the regional election commission, there are no reasons for challenging the results of voting.

In Volgograd, according to the preliminary information, as at 4:54 a.m. Moscow time of September 19, the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party was on the leading positions.

According to Irina Kovalenko, the press secretary of the regional branch of the "Edinaya Rossiya" Party, candidates from the Party filed no complaints about violations at the elections.

On the day of elections and during the election period in the Volgograd Region, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) filed several dozen petitions and complaints on several occasions. This was reported by Nikolai Parshin, the first secretary of the CPRF' regional committee.

According to him, surveillance camera registered a fact of ballot stuffing at one of the electoral districts in the Kirov District. Meanwhile, Nikolai Parshin has also added that his party members failed to convince people to report cases of pressure.

In the Volgograd Region, members of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) have filed more than 30 formal complaints, reports Oleg Orlov, a coordinator of the Volgograd regional branch of the LDPR.

According to Galina Boldyreva, the leader of the regional branch of the "Yabloko" Party, together with other parties, her party members are preparing a list of complaints about violations committed at the elections.

Galina Boldyreva has also noted that in the Volgograd Region, "soldiers were massively engaged in voting, and violations were committed in issuing of ballots for them." Besides, according to Galina Boldyreva, the voter turnout appeared to be too low.
