Russian MoJ puts "EcoWatch" on register of foreign agents

The inter-regional environmental and human rights public organization "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus" (EcoWatch) has been recognized today as a foreign agent on the outcomes of the check conducted by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) of Adygea.

The check of documents of the "EcoWatch" was an off-the-schedule one, said the MoJ of Russia.

The "EcoWatch" was recognized to be a non-profit organization (NPO) that performs the functions of a foreign agent; and therefore it was put on the relevant register, the MoJ's website reports.

So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments of the "EcoWatch" or its representatives.

The law "On Foreign Agents", which came into force on November 21, 2012, demands from Russian NPOs, which receive funding from abroad and are engaged in political activities, to accept the status of "foreign agents".

Full text of the article is available on the Russian page of 24/7 Internet agency ‘Caucasian Knot’.
