Participants and organizers of tractor march arrested in Kuban

A court has pronounced a decision to sentence Alexei Volchenko, the leader of the movement "Polite Farmers", to ten days of administrative arrest. Other 11 farmers have been arrested for 5-10 days. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Olga Golubyatnikova, a member of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) for the Krasnodar Territory.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 21, farmers of the Krasnodar Territory started a tractor run to Moscow. They attempted to draw the authorities' attention to the raiders' seizure of land plots in the region. On August 23, the farmers were detained in the Rostov Region, when they gathered in a cafe for talks with representatives of the presidential permanent mission in the Southern Federal District (SFD).

"Alexei Volchenko is sentenced to 10 days of administrative arrest for the fact that he had allegedly failed to get a sanction for a run from the authorities of the Krasnodar Territory," noted Olga Golubyatnikova.

The member of the POC for the Krasnodar Territory has also emphasized that "Alexei Volchenko had pleaded guilty under the pressure of the police." "However, at the trial, he has said that he admitted his guilt only under pressure put on him by one of the policemen. The activist told the court that the policeman threatened to accuse him of extremism," reported Olga Golubyatnikova.
