In Gukovo, miners decline Governor's proposal

The miners on protest do not agree on the partial repayment of wage arrears. This was reported by Dmitry Kovalenko, a member of the initiative group to coordinate the miners' protest actions. According to him, 64 people continue their hunger strike.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 24, Vasily Golubev, Governor of the Rostov Region, met the hunger strikers in Gukovo. According to him, Joint-Stock Company (JSC) "Regional Development Corporation" is ready to allocate 50 million roubles for the payment of wage arrears to the workers of the enterprises of the "Kingcoal" group of companies.

According to Dmitry Kovalenko, the protesters "have come to the conclusion that they do not need a handout."

On August 24, Dmitry Kovalenko reported about 63 participants of the hunger strike. However, by the evening, Viktor Gorenko, Mayor of Gukovo, has reported on the increase in the number of the hunger-strikers up to 72.
