MIA denies its involvement in disappearance of Mikhail Abramyan

Staff members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for the Stavropol Territory have not detained Mikhail Abramyan, a member of the "Communists of Russia" Party. This was reported by the MIA's officials. Party colleagues of Mikhail Abramyan have filed to the MIA a complaint about his kidnapping.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Mikhail Abramyan, Secretary of the Krasnodar branch of the "Communists of Russia" Party, who arrived in Novorossiysk on August 22, was taken away to some unknown destination by a group of five or six people. This was reported by his party colleagues.

Members of the "Communists of Russia" Party have a "long-standing conflict" with the regional administration, and the disappearance of Mikhail Abramyan may be connected with that. This opinion was voiced by Sergey Malinkovich, the deputy chairman of the central committee of the party.

He has also added that the regional law enforcement bodies are regularly involved in the detention of party activists.

According to Andrei Serenko, the chairman of the expert council at the Foundation for studies of electoral policy, the incident may be a PR move. He has also noted that a similar technique was widely used by political strategists in the 1990s.
