Participants of festival in Volgograd Region study traditions of Don Cossacks

Today, the Volgograd Region holds the Cossack festival which involves 3000 people. According to the organizers of the festival, their purpose is to study the heritage of the Don Cossacks. Meanwhile, they do not believe in "complete revival of the Cossack culture".

Today, in the Volgograd Region, the Kamennobrodsky Monastery holds the traditional festival devoted to the celebration of the Holy Trinity Holiday. According to the organizers, the Kamennobrodsky Monastery gathered more than 3000 people, including local residents, pilgrims, and guests from Volgograd and neighbouring districts of the Volgograd Region.

The participants in the festival perform Don Cossack songs collected by activists of the Volgograd regional public organization "Cossack ethnic and cultural complex 'Heritage'", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The aim of the "Cossack ethnic and cultural complex 'Heritage'" is to "unite Cossack youth and to format positive attitude towards the Cossack people and culture." This was emphasized by Maria Doronina, the director of the organization. According to her, it is impossible to revive the Cossack culture; however, at present, people should save the traditions that are still alive.
