Authorities report five houses damaged by landslide in Dagestan

Residents of the houses, destroyed by heavy rains and a landslide in the villages of Nizhni Djengutai and Kadar had to move to their relatives and neighbours, said a source from the administration of the Buynaksk District of Dagestan. Repair crews continue restoring electricity and gas supplies to five villages of the district.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 1, after a heavy rain, the village of Arcas of the Buynaksk District was hit by a landslide, which caused an emergency power outage leaving nearly 400 people without electricity. The second landslide occurred near the village of Nizhni Djengutai and ruptured a gas pipeline.

Two houses were damaged in the village of Nizhni Djengutai, and three – in Kadar, said Islam Gafurov, the head of the information-analytical department of the Buynaksk District Administration.

He added that in Kadar, the landslide carried away several cars; in Apshi, it demolished a bridge. Also, according to Gafurov, almost all the villages have disrupted water supplies.

The emergency repair works continue in the dwelling settlements of the Buynaksk District, said the republic's Ministry for Emergencies (MfE).
