Defence of Karpyuk expresses distrust to court

A challenge of the chairing judge, who is considering at the Supreme Court (SC) of the Chechen Republic the criminal case against the citizens of Ukraine Nikolai Karpyuk and Stanislav Klykh, has been claimed by the defence. One of the advocates states that the judge rejects all the defence's motions and is interested in a definite outcome of the case.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the case of Karpyuk and Klykh is considered by the Chechen SC since October 27, 2015. The defendants are charged with involvement in the murder of at least 30 servicemen during the first Chechen war. Karpyuk and Klykh deny their involvement in the conflict in Chechnya and complain of being tortured during the investigation.

In its petitions, the defence asked the court to add and to make public publications and videos posted on the Internet to the case files. This evidence, as noted by Dokka Itslaev, the advocate of Karpyuk, casts doubts on the testimony of Alexander Malofeev, the sole prosecution witness.

The prosecutor has treated the defence's arguments unjustified and noted that the defence acted without no restrictions.
