Three natives of Dagestan accused of attempt to join IS
The North-Caucasian District Military Court has completed the judicial investigation of the case of Mukhamed Akhmedov, Sirazhutdin Mirzabekov and Bagir Mazalaev, who had intended to travel to Syria to participate in the "Islamic State" (IS), an organization, recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia.
"According to investigators, Akhmedov, Mirzabekov and Mazalaev decided to get into Syria through Turkey. Akhmedov received, via the Internet, a contact of the person, who agreed to meet them in Istanbul and help to cross the Syrian border," said Alyona Katskalo, the press secretary of the court. According to her story, the above three wanted to join the IS for religious reasons, and wanted to participate in armed clashes.
"On July 15, 2015, when passing the border control at the international airport of Krasnodar, they were detained," said the court source.
All of them are accused under the article of "an attempt to participate in the activities of a terrorist organization" of the Russian Criminal Code, which provides for up to life imprisonment. It is expected that the court will sentence the natives of Dagestan on April 26, the TASS reports.
