Volgograd: picket in defence of Article 31 of Constitution was six people strong

Participants of the picket in defence of the 31st Article of the Constitution spoke in support of political prisoners, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Article 31 of the Russian Constitution reads: "Citizens of the Russian Federation shall have the right to assemble peacefully, without weapons, and hold rallies, meetings and demonstrations, marches and pickets."

The action took place in the evening on March 31 at the building of the Central Bank. The picketers were holding a flag with the image of a savings book and posters reading "Freedom to political prisoners! Russia will be free!", "Instead of elections, Russia stages terror and cat-and-mouse games with voters!" and others, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The events within the movement "Strategy-31" for enforcement of the provisions of the Russian Constitution will continue, said Anatoly Eldyrkin, a picketer.

"We want to show here that there are still people wishing changes in our country," he told the "Caucasian Knot".
