Armenia starts collecting signatures against police action during dispersal of protesters

In Freedom Square in Yerevan, the "Armenian Women’s Front" have started collecting signatures against police violence and in support of Ruzanna Egnukyan, who got a head injury during the dispersal of the protest action on March 24.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 24, activists of the "Armenian Women’s Front" organized an action in support of political prisoners and blocked Mashtots Avenue in Yerevan. Activist Ruzanna Egnukyan was injured as a result of a clash with policemen. 14 persons were detained. By the evening, all of them were released.

Today, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told by Nara Badalyan, a member of the "Armenian Women’s Front", that the public should condemn the use of violence by the police to disperse peaceful protesters.

Nara Badalyan has noted that the collection of signatures has been initiated to show the public attitude towards the police.

According to the activist, the collection of signatures in Freedom Square will be continued until April 7.

"The campaign will be completed with a march against the police violence used against protesters, including against women," concludes Nara Badalyan.
