Two native of Dagestan win gold medals at European Championships in freestyle wrestling

Shamil Kudiyamagomedov from Kizlyar District and Gadjimurad Rashidov from Karabudakhkent District became European champions in freestyle wrestling.

The European Championships in freestyle, women's and Greco-Roman styles of wrestling have been launched today in the city of Riga. Gadjimurad Rashidov, a native of the village of Shamshagar has won gold in the weight category of up to 57 kg in freestyle wrestling. His opponent in the final fight was a Ukrainian athlete Andrei Yatsenko.

In the weight category of up to 86 kg, the gold medal in freestyle wrestling went to Shamil Kudiyamagomedov from Kizlyar. In the final fight he defeated an Azerbaijani wrestler Alexander Gostiev, the "Interfax" reports.

The 20-year-old Gadjimurad Rashidov is representing the Kuramagomed Kuramagomedov's school located in Kaspiysk. In 2011 and 2012, he won the youth world championships, the website "Wrestling of Dagestan" reports.

Shamil Kudiyamagomedov is 22 years old; he won gold at the 2014 European Nations Cup, says the wrestler's page on the website of the Wrestling Federation of Russia.
