Volgograd truckers approve decision to establish regional union

Today, the truckers of the Volgograd Region have announced the creation of a regional union of entrepreneurs and carriers. Thus, the drivers of heavy-duty vehicles have approved the decision to establish a regional organization, made in the course of protest actions held near Moscow.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 29 a column of trucks left Volgograd for Moscow and arrived at the parking lot in a suburb of the Russian capital. Truckers from Volgograd launched the process of establishing their regional trade union.

According to organizers, the founding meeting was attended by 40 persons.

"The charter of the union defines that it should defend the interests of entrepreneurs and carriers, and provide the legal support of their activities," said Alexei Ulyanov, the coordinator of Volgograd truckers.

In her turn, the entrepreneur Maria Lutkova said at the meeting that "there's no need to create a union; it's necessary to join the Association 'Dalnoboischik' (Trucker) (on December 9 truckers decided to set up the All-Russian Association "Dalnoboischik", – note of the "Caucasian Knot"). According to her story, it is better than "to create a new organization, which has no authority yet."

"We'll resume our actions against the 'Platon' system after the New Year," said Ulyanov. However, as he confessed, "some carriers have resumed working."
