Body of resident of Rostov Region, perished in Syria, transported to Russia

In Novocherkassk of the Rostov Region, family members of contractor soldier Alexander Pozynich were officially informed of his death in Syria. The body of the soldier has been transported to Russia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from September 30, the Russian air forces strike the Syrian positions of the "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia and recognized as a terrorist organization. On November 24, relations between Russia and Turkey got deteriorated after a Russian Su-24 bomber from the air group in Syria was attacked by a pair of Turkish F-16 fighters and shot down by an "air-to-air" missile. Turkey claims that the plane violated the airspace of the state, and the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) denies the information.

On November 24, during the operation to rescue the crew of the downed Su-24 bomber in Syria, a helicopter with marines got under fire. As a result, 29-year-old Alexander Pozynich got fatal wounds, the "Gazeta.ru" reports.

On November 25, the body of the native of Novocherkassk was transported to the place of his military unit in Crimea. From there, the body of the deceased soldier will be sent home to the Rostov Region, the "Komsomolskaya Pravda in Rostov-on-Don" reports.

The deceased soldier is to be buried in Novocherkassk, in his homeland.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree to award Alexander Pozynich the Order of Courage posthumously "for his courage, bravery and selflessness shown during the performance of his military duty," reported the Russian President's website on November 25.
