Number of militants killed near Nalchik reaches 11

Today, during an armed clash in Kabardino-Balkaria, 11 militants have been killed. Earlier, they had sworn allegiance to the "Islamic State" (IS) (banned in Russia and recognized as a terrorist organization). This was reported by the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC).

At 8:00 a.m., the counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime was introduced in the vicinity of Nalchik. At 1:00 p.m., the CTO legal regime was cancelled.

In total, the fortified camp, located in a wooded mountain area, hid 11 militants who "attempted to break through the blocked area", the "Interfax" reports with reference to the NAC.

In the course of the CTO, law enforcers killed Yuri Bitsuev, one of the leaders of the local militant grouping, which had earlier sworn allegiance to the "Islamic State" (IS), the news agency "RBC" reports with reference to a source from the law enforcement bodies.

According to the NAC, the militants killed near Nalchik were "engaged in the organization of channels for transportation of residents of the republic to the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic for their participation in the activities of terrorist groupings," the RIA "Novosti" reports.

The militants were plotting a series of terror acts in the territory of the North-Caucasian region in crowded places, the "Gazeta.ru" reports with reference to the NAC.
