Head of NGO "European Integration" becomes Armenian MP

The National Assembly of Armenia has defined the holder of the mandate of Arpine Ovannisyan, who was earlier appointed to the post of the Minister of Justice. Her post was taken up by Karen Bekaryan, the head of the NGO "European Integration".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the post of the Minister of Justice of Armenia was vacant since July 14, after resignation of the former Minister Ovannes Manukyan. On September 4, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan signed a decree on appointment of Arpine Ovannisyan to the above post.

Ms Ovannisyan represented in the parliament the ruling Republican Party of Armenia. Her mandate has passed over to Karen Bekaryan, the head of the "European Integration", because he was the next person on the proportional list of the above party at the parliamentary elections.

On September 11, a protocol on the transfer of the parliamentary mandate to Bekaryan was drawn up by the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Armenia, said the CEC's press service.

Let us remind you that the ruling Republican Party of Armenia won the parliamentary elections in 2012, gaining 44.02% of the votes (in total, 664,440 voters cast their ballots for the party).

  • Khamzat Kadyrov confirms drone attack on Chechnya

    Secretary of the Chechen Security Council Khamzat Kadyrov has posted on a social networking service a video of the destruction of a drone. The Chechen official has also added that all the drones launched today to attack the republic had been shot down.
