Two policemen from Chechnya wounded in Dagestan

Two Chechen policemen were wounded during an operation held in the Dagestani city of Khasavyurt aimed to detain a member of the armed underground, said the spokesman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Chechnya.

The shootout broke out on August 21, after Chechen operative agents arrived in Khasavyurt to detain a wanted Ali Demilkhanov, a MIA source told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"The agents managed to establish the whereabouts of the militant, who was hiding in the settlement of Olympijskiy in Khasavyurt, but the latter opened pistol fire on them, making over 10 shots," said the source.

The gunman managed to escape; and he is now searched for with the help of the staff of the Khasavyurt ROVD (District Interior Division), said the spokesman of the Chechen MIA. Both wounded policemen were transported to Chechnya; their condition is stable, the MIA source has concluded.

Let us remind you that in April this year the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov sharply criticized the practice of conducting special operations in Chechnya by power agents from other republics without the consent of local authorities. On April 21, he announced his permit to open fire to shoot at such power agents.
