"Nairit" employees demand authorities' explanations on order of paying court costs

A protest action was held today in Yerevan by workers of the "Nairit" Chemical Factory, who demanded from the authorities to explain how they would receive compensations of their legal costs and assess whether it was legitimate to demand from workers to refuse to receive the accrued fines and penalties.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that "Nairit" workers had been trying to get their salary debts since 2012. On August 4, 2015, after they signed an agreement with the factory bosses, the debts were fully repaid.

According to organizers, the protest action held near the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia was attended by more than 50 persons, who demanded an answer to their letter, sent on July 18 to Minister Ervand Zakharyan.

Workers ask to clarify the provisions of the agreement they signed with the factory bosses, said Karine Shakhverdyan, a member of the coordination group. According to her story, workers are wondering whether it was legitimate to demand that they refuse to receive the fines and penalties for the delay of salary payments.

Let us remind you that workers also insist that the factory was reopened. On July 28, it became known that the "CIS Mezhgosbank", the main creditor of "Nairit", agreed to transfer 90% of the factory shares, owned by it, to the Armenian government.
