MIA refuses to admit police's inaction during pogrom of JMG office

As stated by Alexander Savenkov, the head of the Investigating Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Russia, the service check found no confirmation of the complaints about the police's inaction during the pogrom of the Grozny office of the Joint Mobile Group (JMG).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 3 in Grozny, unidentified assailants attacked the office of the JMG, which includes employees of the Committee against Torture (CaT). The attackers smashed the car of rights defenders and destroyed the office and the apartment of the JMG. Its members managed to escape. According to rights defenders, the police did not react to their numerous calls.

The Human Rights Council (HRC) under the Russian President has made public the response of the MIA to Mikhail Fedotov, the Chairman of the HRC. According to the letter signed by Alexander Savenkov, the reports about the police's inaction were studied within an official check in the MIA.

The Twitter of the HRC has emphasized that by its response the MIA is actually recognizing the absence of reaction "to the pogrom of rights defenders' office in central Grozny as normal."
