Seven people rescued from under snow after avalanche in KBR

Six cars were covered by a snow avalanche in the area of Mount Elbrus; workers rescued seven people trapped in their cars.

The information about a spontaneous avalanche in the Elbrus District, one kilometre from the Azau Glade, was received by rescuers at 8:00 p.m. on January 6. "Seven persons in six cars occurred under snow," said the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR).

According to the MfE, nobody was hurt; and those rescued need no medical attention.

The highway, which was attacked by the avalanche, was cleared up, but the works continue because of the incessant snowfall. Besides, the traffic is restricted by the GIBDD (traffic police) of the Elbrus District because of threats of other avalanches, says the website of the MfE of the KBR.
