Residents of Southern Caucasus have New Year holidays from five to twelve days

Residents of Southern Caucasus will have from five to twelve days-off to celebrate the New Year – the decision was made by the authorities of the countries of the region.

Azerbaijan had declared December 31, 2014, and January 1, 2, 3 and 4, 2015, as days-off.

According to the decision of the Government of Armenia as of December 4, 2014, the New Year holidays will last until January 12.

The press service of the Government of Armenia informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the working days of January 8 and 9, 2015, had been moved to December 20 and 27, respectively.

Thus, the days-off will last from December 31, 2014, to January 11, 2015, inclusive.

In accordance with the Labour Code of Georgia, residents of the country are provided with only three days-off to celebrate the New Year and Christmas – January 1, 2 and 7 (the so-called "old-style Christmas). However, since January 3 and 4, 2015, fell on Saturday and Sunday, they were also declared days-off.

In Nagorno-Karabakh, the holidays will last from December 31, 2014, until January 12, 2015, for all institutions.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers of Abkhazia, in early January, residents of the republic will have nine days-off – January 1-8 and 14.
