Ilkin Rustamzade put into dungeon of Baku SIZO for second time within month

Ilkin Rustamzade, a member of the movement "Free Youth", who is imprisoned in Azerbaijan, was put into the dungeon of the SIZO (pre-trial prison) – for the second time this month.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 6, the Court of Grave Crimes sentenced seven activists of the NIDA movement, namely: Bakhtiyar Guliev, Shakhin Novruzlu, Mamed Azizov, Zaur Gurbanly, Rashad Gasanov, Uzeyir Mamedli, Rashadat Akhundov and a member of the "Free Youth" movement Ilkin Rustamzade to imprisonment for the terms from six to eight years on charges of organizing mass riots. The activists' appeal was rejected on December 16.

The placement of Rustamzade into the dungeon was reported by his father, who on December 18 brought a food parcel for his son to the SIZO. The reason for the punishment is not reported, the "Contact.az" writes.

The NIDA movement has associated Rustamzade's placement into the dungeon with his speech at the session of the Court of Appeal, where he complained about the jailers, accusing them of inhuman treatment.

For the first time Rustamzade was placed into the dungeon in late November, said his advocate Khalid Bagirov. In his opinion, the reason was in Rustamzade's critical articles, the "Radio Azadlyg" reports.
