Close ally of Omar Shishani, commander of northern sector of "Islamic State" killed in Syria
Jundallah Shishani, a field commander of Syrian militants and a close ally of Omar Shishani, the commander of the northern sector of the "Islamic State" (IS), was killed in Syria during clashes in the town of Kobane. Earlier, different sources at least five times reported about the murder of Omar Shishani himself.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since 2013 Tarkhan Batirashvili, a native of Georgia, also known as Omar Shishani (Omar Chechen), has been commanding a group of Islamists in the IS (formerly – the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant – ISIL), waging war in the northern sector of Syria. The death of Shishani has been declared for at least five times; in particular, his murder was reported by the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, but then these reports were refuted.
For two days of the warfare in Kobane, 14 IS militants were killed. This was reported on December 8 by Amer Hassan, the head of the press centre of the Fajr al-Hurriya Brigade (Freedom Dawn Regiment), which is supporting the "Free Syrian Army".
According to Hassan, one of those killed on December 8 was the field commander Jundallah Shishani.
Jundallah was one of the closest allies of Omar Shishani, the "ARA News" writes with reference to Hassan.
So far, no official confirmation of the death of Jundallah Shishani has arrived from IS representatives.
Various sources, including the Russian FSB, have confirmed that militants from Russia are fighting for the "Islamic State", says the document prepared by the "Caucasian Knot": "Caucasians in the ranks of IS (ISIL)".
