Grozny court fines local woman for beating children in kindergarten

In Grozny, a former day-care attendant from the kindergarten "Orlyonok" (Eaglet), accused of improper performance of her duties and child abuse, has been sentenced.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this August, the Prosecutor's Office revealed that a day-care attendant from the kindergarten "Orlyonok" located in the Staropromyslovsky District of Grozny was suspected of systematic beating of children. The woman's actions were recorded by a surveillance camera.

On October 27, the Staropromyslovsky District Court of Grozny announced the verdict against defendant Laisa Batyrova.

"The Laisa Batyrova's guilt in the crime has been completely proved. The Court has sentenced her to a fine of 90,000 roubles and deprived her of the right to hold positions in pre-school education institutions for a term of one year," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by an official from the Chechen Prosecutor's Office.

It should be noted that in Chechnya, other cases of child abuse have also been recorded. One of the cases which received wide public resonance was an incident in Grozny, when a four-year girl was beaten by her stepmother and brought to a hospital in serious condition.
