About 195,000 celebrate Kurban Bayram in Moscow and around (+video)

Some 195,000 Muslim believers took part in celebrating the Eid al-Adha in Moscow and Moscow Region – 130,000 and 65,000, accordingly. In Moscow, most of them have visited today the Cathedral Mosque in Prospekt Mira, where they were addressed with a welcoming speech of Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, the Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Besides, the Eid al-Adha celebration procedure was corrected by the incident that happened on September 26 near Moscow Historic Mosque, as Rushan-Khazrat Abbyasov, the Mufti of the Moscow Region, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. The incident caused additional consultations with law enforcement bodies and the governments of Moscow and the Moscow Region; it was decided to strengthen the work of volunteers, said the Mufti.

He drew attention to the fact that for the second year in a row, on the eve of Eid al-Adha, incidents occur in Moscow on home soil, but creating certain interethnic tension.

By reminding the 2013 events in Biryulyovo, and referring to the current incident at the Historic Mosque in Moscow, Rushan-Khazrat Abbyasov noted religious leaders "have always called for peace and stability."

"All these everyday conflicts should be in no case associated with any interethnic or inter-confessional relations," said the Mufti.
