Ukrainian battalion "Donbas" reports on capture of several dozen Chechens in Gorlovka

In the Ukrainian city of Gorlovka, several dozens of armed Caucasian natives, presumably Chechens, who were fighting for supporters of the self-proclaimed the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), have voluntarily surrendered to soldiers. This was reported by the press service of the volunteer battalion "Donbas". Later, this information was refuted by the same source.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 12, the press centre of the antiterrorist operation (ATO) reported that combatants from Chechnya, who were fighting on the side of the self-proclaimed Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics, "through open communication channels" asked leaders of the antiterrorist operation in Ukraine to provide them with the possibility to leave the combat zone.

On August 14, the press service of the battalion "Donbas" posted on its page on Facebook a message on the capture of a large number of DNR supporters in the vicinities of Gorlovka.

At 9:35 a.m. Moscow time, the same page on Facebook posted the refutation, which stated that the information regarding surrender of 46 armed Chechens was false.

The ranks of the DNR supporters face growing demoralization and panic, and desertion becomes massive, states Zoryan Shkiryak, Adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine with reference to a man, who has allegedly surrendered to fighters of the Ukrainian battalion "Artyomovsk" in the city of Artyomovsk, the Ukrainian "Independent News Agency" reports.
